Dedication to Client Services

Thema is a boutique management consultancy dedicated to client service.

Thema is a small management consultancy offering “big 3” experience with international capabilities via Umbrex when required. Dedicated to client service, we aspire to the values espoused by Marvin Bower of McKinsey & Co., many years ago including to:

  • Put the client’s interest ahead of our own.

  • Uphold absolute integrity.

  • Tell the truth as we see it.

We deliver impact. We have a particular specialism in helping early stage and high technology companies that have great products and want to become great businesses.

To ensure incentives are aligned with management, and to help preserve valuable and scarce cash, Thema will, on occasion, consider taking remuneration partly in equity or on the basis of results.

Services

Thema’s services are tailored to the specific needs of each client. No two assignments or relationships are the same. However, most assignments include one or more of the following elements.

  • Financing strategy and fundraising

  • Strategic planning

  • Transaction planning and execution

  • Business development

  • Partnerships and alliances

  • Marketing services

  • Management services

Thema is willing to entertain both one-off projects and on-going advisory roles.

Typical Clients

The quality of the interpersonal relationship between consultant and client is the key criterion in ensuring impactful and enjoyable client work. As an entrepreneurial, owner managed, organisation, Thema aims to work with people who are ambitious, change ready and hungry for advice but determined to make their own decisions.

Thema is particularly interested in working with early-stage Companies in:

  • Future Flight

  • Sensors and wearables

  • Decarbonisation

  • FinTech and Information Assurance

and any organisation with passion and disruptive business models or technologies; and that aims to contribute to the achievement of one or more Sustainable Development Goals

Current and Recent Clients

Thema is working with, or has recently worked with:

An eVTOL vehicle manufacturer that recognised the need to develop an infrastructure capability to enable this breakthrough technology.

An ICT Company seeking to establish a new de facto standard for trust in data and data transformations. This standard applies to all data formats and regardless of how and where the data is stored. Key uses include digital evidence management, intellectual property protection and authentication of official documents published electronically.

An early stage Company working with the US Military to develop a wholly disruptive data storage technology using carbon nanotubes. Key benefits of this technology compared to magnetic storage are 30x data density, data preservation for 100 years, 80% reduction in energy efficiency and much improved mechanical reliability.

Another early stage Company with a handheld or worn biosensor that is orders of magnitude more sensitive than anything currently available and produces immediate results. The sensor uses an optical technique to identify the presence of a single colony-forming unit (CFU) of most common pathogens. It has application in CBRN detection, environmental health, food service and supply chain, health care.

An information assurance specialist developed a minutely defined process to assure compliance for any organisation working in any industry and jurisdiction. It takes the organisation from consideration of the legal and regulatory requirements faced by the organisation through to specification, delivery and management of the company’s information assets

Thema’s client in Payment processing had a uniquely flexible and powerful software development platform that yields tailored solutions that meet banking and money transfer regulatory requirements “out of the box”.
